چکیده
Preserving skin microbiota homeostasis is of crucial importance for maintaining healthy skin. We have developed a new active ingredient from Bombax costatum flowers, this polysaccharide-rich extract was evaluated in vitro on models using different bacterial strains representative cutaneous (S. aureus, S. epidermidis, hominis, C. acnes). The significantly increased keratinocyte production innate immunity markers TLR2 (Toll-Like Receptor 2) and hBD2 (human beta-Defensin by ELISA assay. In co-culture several strains, the tended to inhibit growth pathogenic strain without affecting commensal bacteria. This effect even more significant as aureus present high proportions compared other suggesting preventive toward pathogenicity limiting its overgrowth. inhibited biofilm formation, crystal violet dye, while it that epidermidis. adhesion reconstructed human epidermis (RHE) adhesion. Adhesion colony forming unit counting adhering bacteria after topical pre-treatment extract. Finally, protected expression filaggrin, desmoglein-1 corneodesmosin, assessed immunostaining RHE were incubated presence secretum. demonstrated natural plant obtained able limit growth, properties aureus), Moreover, stimulates immune defenses helps preserve epidermal barrier alteration due aureus. These results show beneficial homesostasis promoting against strains.

The nutritional, anti-nutritional and mucilage contents of flour of leaves of two vegetables Bombax costatum leaf (BCL) and Cissus populnea leaf (CPL) were investigated. Their protein (≈19.0 g/100g in BCL and ≈13.0 g/100g in CPL) and ash (≈6.0 g/100g in BCL and ≈11.0 g/100g in CPL) contents were significantly different at P < 0.05. Both leaves were rich in Ca (BCL, 102 ± 2.5 mg/100g; CPL, 113 ±...

PURPOSE To determine the active ingredient in tea tree oil (TTO) responsible for its reported killing effect on Demodex mites, the most common ectoparasite found in the human skin extending to the eye. METHODS Using a reported in vitro killing assay to measure the survival time of adult Demodex folliculorum up to 150 minutes, we have screened serial concentrations of 13 of the 15 known ingred...

The human gut microbiota is considered one of the most fascinating reservoirs of microbial diversity hosting between 400 to 1000 bacterial species distributed among nine phyla with Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes and Actinobacteria representing around 75% of the diversity. One of the most intriguing issues relates to understanding which microbial groups are active players in the maintenance of the mi...
